Wilma Hawkins, Principal

Mrs. Hawkins brings 33 years of experience in education, including 13 years in administrative roles. She began her career in the Rutherford County School System, teaching grades 3rd-5th and serving as a Title 1 funded interventionist and a Reading and Math Instructional Coach. In 2010, she joined Wilson County, where she held positions as an Assistant Principal and Principal at Elzie D. Patton Elementary before joining WA Wright Elementary. Mrs. Hawkins holds a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education, a Master's Degree in Library Science, and a Specialist in Education Degree in Administration and Supervision, all from Middle Tennessee State University. Outside of her professional life, Mrs. Hawkins enjoys spending time with her family, reading, traveling, and exploring antique and thrift stores. She is actively involved in her church and serves her community through various initiatives. She is a member of the Rutherford County Habitat for Humanity Home Selection Committee, provides life coaching for women recovering from substance abuse, and founded the non-profit organization Umbrella of Hope to support individuals experiencing homelessness. Mrs. Hawkins is also a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc.
